Dave Skrzypczak is a Journeyman tool and die maker with over 44 years of experience.
Dave is a hardworking man and overcame many obstacles to achieve his goals. Right after high school, Dave earned an apprenticeship at Bay Machine and Tool company in Essexville MI. He worked and went to trade school for four years. On completing his apprenticeship in 1974, he moved to Traverse City, Michigan with his young family and continued working sometimes 2 and 3 different jobs a week, at different machine shops.
Dave started and owned various companies in the past, but he is best known for starting United Engineered Tooling, employing over 40 people. He and his wife, Kim, currently own KDS Enterprises,LLC. Dave and his partner, Dave Lark, own and operate SDL Precision. He is a very motivated entrepreneur, and uses his business skills to turn ideas into reality. His diversification strategy has brought in a lot of different kinds of customers.
His companies have made plastic injection molds, tools, dies, and he was involved in making several machines for some of the nuclear reactor components. He has made high precision functional gauges and electronic gauges for the automobile industry, components for Sara Lee Food Companies, in several states, while keeping their conveyor systems and product lines running, and fuel injection parts for fighter jets.
Dave and his partner Dave Lark of SDL Precision, developed and created the Ringenie, a ring setting and engraving kit for Jewelers. The Ringenie has helped many stone setters and engravers increase their business and profits. SDL ships all over the world but is made here in the USA.
Dave is a an exceptionally well respected man with high ethical standards. He has devoted a lot of time helping young people learn whatever knowledge he can share with them. He loves to see them succeed. Many people that have worked with him, have gone on to open their own businesses, some with his guidance.
Dave loves to spend time with his wife of 47 years and his children and grand children. He enjoys bass fishing and loved playing racquetball.
Dave Lark is a Norther Michigan native, and graduated from Elk Rapids High School.
His graduated from the Trinidad State Gunsmith Program and Pikes Peak Community College where he also taught as part of the Tech Program.
He worked with the US Olympic Small Bore Shooting Team, and designed the prototype for the first laser mount. He was fortunate to be tutored by the famed gun maker Maurice Ottmar.
Dave worked as an instructor at Trinidad State Gunsmithing Program for 3 years before moving on to instruct at Pikes Peak Community College for 3 years.
He moved back to Michigan in the early 90’s and worked in the tool and die trade for 4 years, then started Lark Custom Works & Machining, building knives and classic style rifles.
He tutored under Chris DeCamillis engraving for several years before partnering with Dave Skrzypczak to start the company SDL Precision. Together they designed and built the RinGenie tool and assortment of tools/accessories for the jewelry industry.
